Hiawatha Valley has trained therapists who are skilled in administering ADD and ADHD assessments to individuals of all ages.
A diagnostic assessment outlines various aspects of the individual’s life including cultural preferences, family history, and current mental health symptoms, to name a few. The assessment is a written evaluation and will determine whether or not a mental health condition is present and will give recommendations on ways the individual can improve their functioning.
Psychological testing is much more in depth and typically includes a written evaluation, as well as, a face to face evaluation with a trained therapist. Psychological testing can be administered on individuals of all ages, but typically in children, a diagnostic assessment is sufficient.
Substance Abuse Assessments
Hiawatha Valley has various staff trained in providing substance abuse assessments in each of the four office locations. Another common term for a substance abuse assessment is a Rule 25 which is essentially the same, but is given this term depending on the individual’s insurance coverage. During this assessment, plan to discuss current and past substance use. Typically the final written report completed by the Substance Abuse Counselor will include recommendations on ways to improve functioning and decrease substance use.
