Home Based Therapist
Home-based therapy is a therapeutic service usually provided in the
family's home. The primary focus is to address issues within the
family system including relationship issues between family members and/or
external systems such as school systems.
Services are founded upon the following four principles:
- All members of the household are to be considered the focus of
service.
- Children need and have a right to belong to a family.
- Home-based services will support each family member's right and
responsibility for self-determination and human dignity.
- Families are encouraged to seek and use the resources and support
systems of the community of which they are a member.
Teen Support Worker
The purpose of teen support work services is to improve/maintain the
child's emotional and behavioral functioning and to reduce the risk of out
of home placement or to reunify and reintegrate the child into the family
after an out of home placement. Teen
support workers in Winona and
Wabasha Counties provide mental health services for students and their
families at the Area Learning Center in Winona and River Valley Academy in
Kellogg. Student issues most frequently addressed by these staff
members include:
- Relationship conflicts within families and peer groups or between
boyfriends and girlfriends.
- Social skills
- Academic problems, employment issues, and independent living skills
- Chemical use and abuse issues
- Mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, and medication
management
In Houston County the teen support workers focus on developing treatment
plans to address the needs of adolescents returning from out of home
placements. The primary goal is to reduce the reoccurrence rate. |
