Our Psychiatry Department provides diagnostic assessments and medication management for children through adults. We also staff a medication clinic to support adult medication monitoring and education in our Winona Office.
The Psychiatry Department is staffed by a full time Psychiatrist and two prescribing Advanced Practice Registered Nurses. Other department personnel include three registered nurses, a clinical nurse specialist, and psychiatric assistant. HVMHC provides psychiatric services in Winona, Caledonia, Wabasha, and Red Wing.
|Dr. Annette Smick is the Center’s fulltime Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatrist and Medical Director. She works out of our Winona Office at 166 Main Street. Dr. Smick’s professional experience includes: Adult Psychiatrist, Olmsted County Adult Detention Center, Rochester, Minnesota; Child, Adolescent, Adult Psychiatrist, Associates in Psychiatry and Psychology, Rochester Minnesota; Medical Director, Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatrist, Zumbro Valley Mental Health Center; Staff Psychiatrist Luther Midelfort, Eau Claire, Wisconsin; Medical Director, DBM, CMH, Winona, MN. Dr. Smick received her MD from the University of Minnesota, School of Medicine, Minneapolis, Minnesota; she completed her Adult Psychiatry Residency and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine, Rochester, Minnesota. She is licensed in Minnesota, Wisconsin and North Dakota. Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Adult Psychiatry and Child/Adolescent Psychiatry.|
|Frank Rodell has joined Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Frank received his Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from George Williams College and worked as a Mental Health Counselor serving adolescent and adult populations doing individual, family and group therapy. He received his Masters in Nursing and has been working as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner working with adult psychiatric and substance abuse population.|
|Elizabeth Schossow received her Master’s Degree in Nursing from University of Northern Iowa – Allen College in Waterloo, IA, with a specialty in Adolescent and Adult Psychiatry. Elizabeth is certified through the American Nurse’s Credentialing Center as a Psychiatric, Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She is certified across the lifespan and currently sees clients ages 12 and above. Elizabeth is an independent prescriber in the state of Minnesota. Elizabeth currently sees clients in the Winona, Caledonia, and Red Wing offices, she also does Telepsychiatry.|
