Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center Residential Services
is composed of four specific programs: Broadway Center, Center House (Adult
Foster Care), West Side (Adult Foster Care), and West Side Lodge. These
programs were established in order to meet the unique residential needs of
adults with Serious and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI). The primary
objective within each of these programs is to assist residents in preparing
to live independently by emphasizing individual responsibility and
self-sufficiency. The various programs incorporate a multi-disciplinary
approach to identify strengths and needs. Utilizing a treatment plan,
residential staff can provide monitoring of mental health treatment and
symptoms, provide education and support, assist with teaching independent
living skills, refer to other services and providers, and provide
appropriate social activities.
