The purpose of the Advisory Committee is to incorporate meaningful participation by consumers and persons in recovery who are or have utilized behavioral health serves at Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center in Winona, Wabasha, Goodhue, Houston and Fillmore Counties. The committee will provide input to the board about the organization’s policies, processes and services. The Advisory Committee shall consist of five members, one from each of the counties served. Members will be selected by interest and recommendation. Members will have had or are utilizing various behavioral health services within the organization. Members will represent a wide variety of age groups, a wide variety of ethnicities and diverse sexual orientations. Members will serve a one-year term, with a maximum of three consecutive full terms served. A Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center representative will lead the Advisory Committee.
The duties of the Advisory Committee consist of:
- To gather input from Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center service users and provide unbiased insights and ideas to the Board of Directors to enhance the organizations programs and mission.
- Provide recommendations regarding programming or new programming as requested
- Willingness to communicate candidly with the Board of Directors and understanding importance of confidentiality
- Serve as an ambassador and advocate to the organization for ongoing communication from community members
