Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center has a standing committee called the Advisory Committee that is made up of clients of the organization. The purpose of the committee is to incorporate meaningful participation by consumers and persons in recovery who are or have utilized behavioral health services at Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center in Winona, Wabasha, Goodhue, Houston and Fillmore counties. The committee provides input to the board about the organization’s policies, processes, and services. The Advisory Committee consist of five members, one from each of the counties served. Members are selected by interest and recommendation. Members have had or are utilizing various behavioral health services within the organization. Members represent a wide variety of age groups, a wide variety of ethnicities and diverse sexual orientations.
