Dialectical Behavior Therapy is an evidence-based psychotherapy that can be used in treating a variety of mental illnesses. The treatment focuses on high-risk, tough to treat consumers. These consumers often have multiple diagnoses. Dialectical Behavior Therapy has been demonstrated to be effective in reducing a wide range of problems, including suicide ideation and attempt, non-suicidal self injury, depression, bulimic symptoms and substance abuse. The main goals of the program are to teach consumers how to regulate emotions, cope with stress and improve relationships with others. In addition, it teaches consumers how to live in the moment.
The United Way of Goodhue, Wabasha and Pierce Counties is a proud supporter of our Dialectical Behavioral Therapy program in Goodhue County.
