WINONA, Minn. – The Heart of Winona invites the community to gather in reflection and solidarity during a Transgender Day of Remembrance event on Thursday, November 20, from 5:30–7:00 p.m. in the Garden Room at Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center, located at 420 East Sarnia Street, Winona.
This evening of remembrance will honor the lives of transgender and non-binary individuals who have lost their lives to violence over the past year. The event also serves as a celebration of Transgender Awareness Month, recognizing the resilience, strength, and contributions of the transgender and non-binary community.
"With each candle we light, we honor the fallen, ignite hope, and pledge to protect every transgender and non-binary life," said Anthony Ellis, Heart of Winona member. "Together, we remember and stand strong."
Attendees are invited to take part in a candlelight remembrance and moment of reflection as the community comes together to honor those lost and reaffirm a collective commitment to inclusion, compassion, and safety for all.
This event is free and open to the public. All are welcome to attend.
