Winona, Minn. – November 11, 2024 – Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center (HVMHC) is thrilled to announce a new partnership with a local landlord, resulting in the successful placement of a resident into stable housing as part of HVMHC’s Scattered Sit Supported Housing Program. This collaboration has already made a significant impact, with the newest tenant moving into his apartment in October 2024, achieving independent living.

“Our newest program member just moved into his own apartment for the first time in many years,” said Adam Muschler, Housing Resource Specialist at HVMHC. “He’s excited about the privacy of his own space and the sense of accomplishment that signing his own lease brings.”

HVMHC’s Supported Housing Program is designed to support individuals with long-term mental health needs by providing safe, independent living options paired with comprehensive support services. By fostering these partnerships, HVMHC aims to empower individuals to live more fulfilling lives within the community.

Landlord Benefits: A Win-Win Partnership

Landlords partnering with HVMHC receive consistent, on-time rental payments, along with support from dedicated HVMHC staff to ensure a smooth rental experience. This unique collaboration offers landlords a low-risk opportunity to fill their units while contributing to the greater good of the Winona community.

“Our new partnership demonstrates the positive impact landlords can have on the lives of their tenants,” said Muschler. “We are incredibly grateful for the landlords who choose to partner with us. Together, we can create more success stories and strengthen our community.”

HVMHC Seeks Additional Landlords to Expand Housing Opportunities

While celebrating this recent success, HVMHC continues its search for more landlords willing to participate in the Supported Housing Program. The need for affordable, stable housing remains high, especially for individuals overcoming mental health challenges.

Landlords in Winona County with unoccupied units are invited to explore this meaningful partnership. “By opening their properties to individuals with complex mental health experiences, landlords can make a significant difference while enjoying the benefits of stable, long-term tenants,” added Muschler.

Interested landlords are encouraged to contact Adam Muschler at 507-615-1002 or HousingSpecialist@hvmhc.org for more information on how to get involved.
