WINONA, Minn. – Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center (HVMHC) is inviting community members to help students start the school year with confidence by participating in its annual School Supply Drive throughout the month of August.

From August 1–31, donations of new school supplies will be accepted at HVMHC’s locations in Winona, Red Wing, Wabasha, and Caledonia. All donated supplies will be distributed to children and families throughout HVMHC’s five-county service area, including Fillmore, Goodhue, Houston, Wabasha, and Winona counties, helping ensure students have the tools they need for a successful school year.

Requested donation items include:

  • Backpacks
  • Pens and pencils
  • Markers and crayons
  • Glue (bottles or sticks)
  • Binders
  • Notebooks
  • Rulers
  • Scissors
  • Calculators
  • And other essential school supplies

“Every child deserves to begin the school year feeling prepared and confident,” said Jen Dieck, Director of Crisis Response and Substance Use Disorder Services at Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center. “A backpack filled with school supplies does more than equip students for the classroom—it helps reduce stress for families and allows children to focus on learning, building friendships, and reaching their full potential. Through the generosity of our communities, we’re able to support children and families across Fillmore, Goodhue, Houston, Wabasha, and Winona counties, ensuring more students have the opportunity to start the school year ready to succeed.”

Whether you donate a single notebook or organize a workplace collection, every contribution helps support local students and families throughout Southeast Minnesota.
