Winona, Minn – Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center (HVMHC) is inviting residents of Goodhue, Wabasha, Winona, Fillmore, and Houston counties to participate in a community survey examining behavioral health care needs, with a particular focus on determining whether additional urgent mental health care services are needed across the region.
The survey seeks input from individuals with a variety of perspectives and experiences, including community members, individuals with lived experience, family members, and professionals who work in health care and other community-serving fields. Feedback will help build a better understanding of local needs and inform future planning and decisions regarding urgent behavioral health services in southeastern Minnesota.
“Understanding the needs of our communities is an important part of ensuring that people have access to the behavioral health services and support they need,” said Erik Sievers, Executive Director of HVMHC. “We encourage residents throughout our five-county service area to share their perspectives. Broad community participation will help us better understand the challenges and needs facing our region.”
The survey is being sponsored by HVMHC in partnership with Sand Prink Consulting, LLC and Envision It Together. The initiative is supported through funding from the Minnesota Department of Health’s Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP).
Participation is voluntary, and responses will help inform the assessment of regional needs. Participation or nonparticipation will not affect an individual’s ability to receive services from HVMHC.
Residents are encouraged to complete the survey by Friday, November 20, 2026.
