Winona, MN – January 15, 2025 – Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center (HVMHC) is excited to announce the opening of its newest Peer Support Network (PSN) Drop-In Center in Wabasha, Minnesota. The Wabasha Drop-In Center, located at 611 Broadway Avenue, Suite 100, will officially open its doors on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. The center will be open every Tuesday from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, providing a welcoming and supportive space for those 18+.
The Wabasha Drop-In Center joins HVMHC's growing network of drop-in facilities, which also includes centers in Winona and Red Wing. These centers offer a safe and inclusive environment for individuals to connect, share experiences, and support one another. Participants can enjoy group activities, peer interaction, and light refreshments—all free of charge.
"We are thrilled to expand our Drop-in Center services to Wabasha, providing a much-needed resource for individuals in the community to connect and thrive on their journey to recovery," said Erik Sievers, Executive Director of HVMHC.
In addition to the opening of the Wabasha location, HVMHC is celebrating the success of its Red Wing Drop-In Center, which opened in May 2024. Located in the historic Armory building at 217 Plum Street, the Red Wing Drop-In Center recently extended its hours and is now open every Thursday from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Since opening, it has welcomed over 100 adults, fostering meaningful interactions and personal growth. "We were thrilled to extend our hours to better meet the community's needs," said Heidi Linder, HVMHC Program Lead, who oversees the Red Wing Drop-in Center.
HVMHC's Drop-In Centers are open to all adults, regardless of whether they are HVMHC clients. These centers provide an opportunity for individuals to escape isolation, connect with others, and find support in a warm and welcoming environment.
The PSN Drop-In Centers address the unique challenges faced by residents of southeastern Minnesota's rural communities, including limited access to affordable and supportive activities. By providing safe and engaging spaces, these centers help individuals strengthen their mental health, build connections, and achieve personal goals.
The Winona Drop-in Center is open Monday through Friday at 9:00 AM. The center closes at 5:00pm Monday through Thursday and closes at 4:00 pm on Fridays. The Winona Drop-in Center is also open the 2nd and 3rd Saturdays of each month from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The Winona Drop-in Center is located at 420 East Sarnia St in the front of the Winona HVMHC Sarnia Square Clinic.
